Oct. 7, 2010 (Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev.) – The 2011 Amgen Tour of California, the largest cycling event in America, will start at Lake Tahoe, one of the country’s most spectacular destinations and nationally renowned cycling meccas.

Lake Tahoe’s first-ever involvement in the race will feature more than a lap and a half around the Lake beginning at the Calif./Nev. border in South Lake Tahoe with the Stage 1 finish at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort in North Lake Tahoe. North Lake Tahoe also hosts the Stage 2 start at Squaw Valley USA, home of the 1960 Winter Olympics.

The Amgen Tour of California covers more than 800 miles, traveling between 15 host cities over the course of eight days from May 15-22, 2011. Last year’s date change from February to May allowed the Tour de France-style road race to visit locations that would not have been possible previously, including a visit to Big Bear Lake. Due to the incredible success, the race will remain in May to provide fans with the most action-packed race possible.

The race will wind through miles of beautiful California terrain, beginning with the first-ever visit to Lake Tahoe, a well known cycling destination and home of “America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride.” The race will travel through some of the state’s most scenic landmarks, with the overall finish in title-sponsor Amgen’s hometown community of Thousand Oaks.
What a great opportunity and great publicty for our area!!

Today there is a “hint” of summer in the air, the sky is clear and blue and it promises to be a gorgeous day to celebrate fathers everywhere! Nancy Costello and I are the two agents in the office without local Father’s Day commitments, so we are holding down the fort here at Pacific Crest Properties. Chris Fowler, our newest father I’m sure is enjoying the day with the youngest baby in the group and Rich Harter our “oldest” father (childwise that is :}) is celebrating in Kansas today. Last year on Father’s Day at 12:01 am Bennett Lee Jitloff was born and yesterday we had a birthday celebration for him. Honoring the rest of the dads in the office we have from youngest (in terms of children): John Biebl, Val Videgain, Wade Holiday, Bret Churchman and Scott Pomeroy. Then we have our moms who get to be the “servers” today, Dionne Pope, Heather Tone, Keri Paulson, Leslie Biederman, Maura Mack, Megan Jitloff and that leaves Jeremy Schneir to hang with his dad today and Leah Krone, doing the same! My dad is with me in spirit today and always, and Nancy’s dad is in Flordia so she gets to give him a call. So there you have it!! Happy Father’s Day to you and yours from all of us celebrating in one way or another at Pacific Crest Properties!!

Yesterday, February 27th, we lost power throughout Tahoe Donner from about 8:45 until almost noon. I was on the floor and ready for a walk-in when everything beeped and flickered several times and then silence for three hours. I did a lot of cleaning, sorting, and everything I could think of that didn’t involve using up the battery on my laptop. The phones worked for about 90 minutes and then the battery back up died out. Anyone who called in just thought we weren’t answering the phone which I hope seemed out of character because we PRIDE ourselves on a human answering the phone in our office during the normal business hours. And then, everything lit up and linked up and we were off and running for the rest of the day. I was back on the Multiple Listing Service so that I could make an appointment to show property at 2 pm. Life is good in Truckee!!

I have to say that one of my greatest joys, Colby Jitloff, spent the day with me on Sunday, and I did not show up at the office that day! I hope all the mothers and grandmothers out there were able to do the same. This little guy, Colby was born at Tahoe Forest Hospital on February 19, 2007 and got to run around on the shores of Lake Tahoe, barefoot no less, enjoying his beautiful little life on Mother’s Day. Those of us that live as permanent residents, as second home owners or who vacation in this incredible paradise I know appreciate life above 4000′ whenever possible. Pretty fun!!!
